The editorial had two primary purposes - to provide practical advice on how to balance creating positive change with the daily demands of life and to illustrate responsibly-made, eco-conscious activewear that is beautiful and fashion-forward.
An advocate for clean living and eco-consciousness, Angela Lindvall has had her fair share of wins and losses throughout her journey to stardom. It is through Angela sharing her experiences of balancing activism with the demands of her career that the reader is able to relate and learn a realistic approach to igniting change while living a harmonious life.
We exclusively featured ethically-made activewear to highlight the progress within that particular sector of the fashion industry. Rather than discussing such progress in the interview, we allowed the fashion to do all the talking.
Angela Lindvall was the perfect person for this feature in every aspect. The acclaimed supermodel was raised in rural Kansas as a down-to-earth tomboy before reaching international fame. Constantly reconciling her differing identities - environmentalist, fashion industry figure, mother, and yogi, Lindvall is well-versed in dichotomies. These contrasting elements of her life make her particular breed of activism all the more approachable.
We wanted the editorial portion of this feature to be equal parts aspirational and relatable. Styling Angela pragmatically allowed us to err from the norm and create a visual story that features a beautiful 38-year-old environmentalist. This subtle shot at age diversity was incredibly gratifying. After all, the future of fashion is all about inclusivity.
Incorporating real grass into the studio’s set design and recreating sunlight with a single hard light source played on the theme of remaining grounded in a man-made environment.
As much we appreciate print publications, we’re pretty big fans of online outlets, thanks to their accessibility. The Laterals’ crisp and refined aesthetic is reminiscent of collector magazines, making it the ideal fit for this elevated editorial feature. Furthermore, we knew Angela’s story would fit in perfectly amongst their countless high-profile actor, musician, and artist features.
Incorporating real grass into the set design within the studio played on the theme of remaining grounded in a man-made environment. We recreated sunlight with single hard light source to further touch on that mood.
